School Started!
Fall 2006...
... This is the last year before Michigan law takes effect requiring schools in Michigan to start the school year after Labor Day.  Both Molly and Miles hit the classrooms on 8/23.  Molly is on the JV Cheerleading team this year and cheered her first game on 8/24.  If you missed it on the home page, click here to watch her cheer.  Miles will likely switch from trombone to tuba this year in the school band and will be the sole guitar player in jazz band.  We're all looking forward to getting back into the ole' routine of school, work, homework, and weekends for goofing off.  Read on if you've never been to this page before... otherwise it might be old news.
Miles is a "rock and roller at heart" ...
... Miles is getting better and better on his guitar.  He's had some great gig opportunities this spring.  His band "Last Chance" played "Blue Orchid" by the White Stripes at the Power Middle School talent show.
In March, Miles performed with me and neighbor Mike Willmann in the Power musical production of Grease!  We practiced from Jan-Mar to prepare for the show.  Opening night was postponed due to a bomb threat at the school (go figure... think someone forgot their lines or had "cold feet"?).  At any rate the shows went great.  All the kids did a fantastic job.  Mike's son Kevin played the roll of Canicki in the musical.  We had the opportunity to show our stuff during one of our gigs at Steak on Main on April 29th when Miles and Kevin joined me for one more round of "Grease Lightning"... check it out...
Miles also plays trombone in the middle school concert band and jazz band.  If you ever visiting and interested, ask me to put on one of his videos.  The direct Mr. Wilson does a fabulous job with the students.  The jazz band repertoire includes songs such as "April in Paris", "It Don't Mean a Thing (if you ain't got that swing)", and "Spinning Wheel".  We're very happy to have a new "rock and roller" in the family.
Molly's our "Dancing Queen"...
... Molly kicked it up a notch this year, signing up for ballet, jazz, and her favorite, hip hop dance with the Dance Electric Company.  She's been working hard and has had one performance at a dance competition.  Check out the picture of her hip hop troupe below...
This weekend (5/7/2006 to be exact) she competes in another event in Walled Lake.  We'll all be there rooting for her as she takes the stage.  This week she'll also tryout for the first time for the Farmington High School cheerleading squad.  This will be a new thing for her, but with her dance experience now over the past two years, she should be well prepared for the challenge.  We'll let you know how it goes.
